Guess what?

After the games day of last semester (last academic year) when Science suffered an ignomious defeat at the hands of the merciless Law People (Legal Eagles if i remember correctly) and salved our wounded pride by drawing with Engine Guys + some girls :P (apologies to the some girls, i forgot who)...

After spending one whole holiday and nearly one whole semester (6/7 of it if you want to be precise) brooding over that and calculating the odds of winning the whole of CF and the odds of being able to study while considering such odds... we have decided that we can no longer take the tortional strain of such an unnatural mental position and decided that Science WILL challenge the whole of CF (other than that sorry portion of CF in council session on wed) to Captain's Ball and Frisbee on WED! And in getting our 3 mathematicians who have calculated the odds and prophesized a great trashing for all as well as our Computing people who have devised diabolic plans to tip the balance by writing incomprehensible codes to all but themselves, Science can guarantee that everyone else will be utterly befuddled and incapable of scoring! Non-Science people (that doesn't include med and engine since we're all sciency), we hereby challenge you to a rousing game of Frisbee/Captain's Ball and suggest (please note that it's suggest! just in case the LE want to quibble about the legal nicities of that and dont' you even dream of suing me for defamation, i haven't a penny to my name)that unless you want to chicken out and go to council (i am so going to die for writing this line) head down to the SRC Field at 7.30pm and face the might of Science! We're very nice people, so we won't rub your nose into the trashing but let's all be friends! After Science trashes everyone of course. So come one and come all!

Abandon your books and the cold comforts of the library, hall rooms and whatever nefarious place you lurk in to study and go for games day on Wed! And remember to petition God for good weather! :) Till We (not me sadly, since i have to go for council) clash on the field, take care and God bless!

Healthserve VIsit by the Social Action Comm

In view of all the outreach opportunities that have been shared recently in CF, the Social Action Committee would like to extend another option for your Fac/hall members to
consider in the coming weeks. Basically, we will be going to visit Healthserve,
a Chrisitan NGO that provides free medical healthcare services to the foreign workers
in the area of Geylang.

The trip will be more of an experiential trip for one to realise the work of Christian NGOs even in our country and seeing the need for supporting them. In addition, we will also be given a short orientation of the area and get to know the workers there. It will be definitely an experience that will open the eyes of your members to the diverse range of foreign workers we may not know of in our midst. Yet, it will also reveal to many who go about the various issues that face these workers.

What on earth is social action??

Ever wondered what is the role you can play in God's kingdom as a member of society?
Whenever you see injustices done in the world through the news, what is it that makes
your heart go out to the people who have been affected? Many of us have such questions
in our minds and hope to find out more about how we can find God's call for us in our
lives and what we can do to align our compassion for different areas in society.

Social Action is the demonstration of the gospel in our lives. Hence, as we look to this
outward expression of the gospel, we also look to Jesus' ministry on this earth. Firstly,
Jesus came to our earth to preach the gospel. Secondly, Jesus came to restore
relationships between God and man. We are able to see these two aspects of the
demonstration of the gospel in the global church that we live in today. However, we often
neglect another aspect of this demonstration, that is, the work of God's deliverance. This
aspect resides in the healing, meeting of spiritual and felt needs, prayer and standing up
for injustices in society to liberate the oppressed from the shackles of poverty.

Therefore, the social action committee would like to cordially (yes, there maybe cordial =)
invite you to join us in finding out more about our role in the delivering work of God's
kingdom. Come for our welcome tea cum seminar! Find out more about what social action
is, what social action in VCF will be like this year, and how you can play a part in reaching

Hello everyone!

Just to write abit about G3.

I am thinking most of us would have heard about G3 through some form or the other. But I'll just give brief information about G3, so we can all think about it and hopefully decide to join G3.

G3 is the new mission programme of FES, and it's a missions training program where we all learn more about mission(s), the biblical basis of it, the changing face of world mission today.It is split into two phases.

Phase 1 is starting in about 2 weeks.

Church History and Missions
IFG Workshopin the form of lectures, bible studies and workshops.

Swordfighters Mini workshops

Hey all !

For those who are interested in what the Swordfighters ministry does in CF, or just wanna know more about the bible/ or how to study it more effectively, you might want to take part in these 3 mini-workshops that they will be organizing over the next few weeks. Also, even as we desire to become more equipped in the aspects of evangelism, let's not forget that as we love in " action" we should also strive to love in " truth". Thus, the importance of knowing His word and understanding it. For those who always whine about having " little bible knowledge" like myself, these workshops might get us started on learning how to understand the contexts in which we read His word, and how we can glean truths from the bible for ourselves ( and also by His leading of course! =P). we have to get started somewhere rite? =P.

There are only 50 vacancies, so if you are really interested in signing up for them, I'd encourage you to do so as soon as possible!

It is a set of notions/ideas/perceptions of reality, and of the world, that affect the way we respond to and evaluate the things that happen around us. But exactly how important is it to have a worldview? More than that, why is it important for us, as Christians, to have a Biblical worldview?

How do we develop such a worldview?

NOTE: Next year, we will be focusing on building a Christian worldview through the Bible studies in the CG guide.

International Students' Cafe

Do you have international friends?

Have you been wanting to do something for them?

Or do you want to have international friends?

IFG is starting a weekly international students' cafe starting next tue (21/08)!

What is it?

The cafe will be a place where international students can come every week, and have snacks and drinks while interacting with us. There'll be some games there as well if they want to play. We hope to be a support group for them, talking to them and helping them where needed. And also, to see this as an opportunity to spread God's love and a chance for them to come to know Christ.

So...Every tuesday (starting 21/08)4pm (that's before sunset prayer or FT so if you're staying back anyway, why not join us?)PGP Blk 10 Music Room Come on down, be prepared to talk and open to share! Invite and bring international friends that you know, from your hall or lectures. the first FT of the AY will be on the 28th August 07, tues (all FTs are on tues, which is why we have no tues cg :p) at LT 29 (in science). it will be a VCF welcome tea of sorts, where the exco will share their vision for VCF for this year, on top of many other things..

no worries if you dun know how to get down... we'll be going down together so those who are going (which should be all of us actually;P)plsss meet at the canteen tables by 5.30pm (nearest the drinks stall i think) we'll be waving a blue and orange flag!!!! :)

haha no we won't. just try to recognise your cgls/the seniors there, or listen out for a loud bunch of crazy ppl who stay in the canteen til 6.

"Terrorism and A Christian Response"

The recent hostage crisis involving the kidnapped South Koreans inAfghanistan have once again raised the spectre on terrorism. In fact,terrorism which has existed in antiquity, gained prominence since thehorrifying attacks of September 11, 2001, in the United States, hasbecome a serious concern for not just government but the averagecitizen. More importantly, despite the pervasive clout it commands,there is a pressing need for a dispassionate Christian interestbesides mere reactionary responses. In the light of these exigencies,the need for Christian concern is real and necessary.

What is terrorism? Who is a terrorist and why they commit atrocities?Why should it deserve our attention and how should we respond?

These questions and issues will be discussed and debated.
